Tuftape – bonds that last

Coated and Uncoated Metals

Protective film for treated, coated and bare metal surfaces that can be damaged during fabrication, shipping and installation.

Coated and Uncoated Metals by Tuftape

Quick answer

Which protection tape is used on aluminium profiles and steel sheets?

Coated and uncoated metals are protected with a co-extruded, UV-treated LDPE film (35 to 150 microns) with a natural rubber or solvent acrylic adhesive in low, medium or high tack. Tuftape makes it in widths from 25 mm to 1320 mm, rated for 6 to 12 months of use, with logo printing in up to 4 colours.

Surface protection tapes matter in the metals industry because treated and coated surfaces are easily marked during handling. Tuftape adhesives are formulated for different surface treatments and performance needs, so the film grips through processing and still peels off without staining.

The same family covers plastic profiles and sheets and specialty surfaces such as glass, automotive paint and flooring.

Applications

Aluminium extruded profiles

Aluminium extruded profiles

Extruded aluminium is treated and coated for decoration and to control corrosion, wear, reflectivity and electrical insulation. Powder-coated and PVDF-coated profiles offer many colours and good abrasion resistance. Protection is available for powder coat, PVDF and anodised finishes.

Sandwich panels and pre-painted metal sheets

Sandwich panels and pre-painted metal sheets

Galvanised and aluminium coils and sheets go into appliances, cold storage, transport, architecture and roofing. Acrylic solvent adhesives at several strength levels suit coil coaters and panel makers, indoors and outdoors.

Stainless steel sheets and sinks

Stainless steel sheets and sinks

Brushed, mirror and bright-annealed stainless finishes scratch easily in transit and fabrication, which raises waste and downtime. The film is laser-cut friendly, with low to medium tack for easy, stain-free removal.
